Agents of the Citizen Attention Operative Group of the Local Police of Arrecife have arrested a 67-year-old man for gender violence in Arrecife and his partner, 58 years old, for injuries in the family environment. The arrest took place in the early hours of last Saturday to Sunday, when the agents proceeded to arrest both.

The GOAC agents were alerted to go to a home in the capital of Lanzarote, in response to an emergency situation. Upon arriving at the scene, the agents found the man on the street, visibly affected, who informed the agents about a heated argument with his partner.

Simultaneously, another patrol interviewed the affected woman in the stairwell of the building. After the interviews and police investigation, it was determined that, during the discussion, the man struggled with the woman, who in turn hit him on several occasions. The intervention of the local agents culminated in the arrest of both people. In addition, the agents, aware of the presence of two minors in the home, took measures to guarantee their safety and well-being, facilitating their reception by relatives.

The Local Police of Arrecife reiterates its commitment to the fight against all types of violence, and especially against domestic and gender violence. The Local Police Corps urges citizens to report any situation of this type and reaffirm their support for the victims, as well as interventions and determination to eradicate these behaviors from society.
