Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue have been activated after learning that a boat with 20 people on board left Senegal on Thursday bound for the Canary Islands. The alert, as confirmed to La Voz by the Civil Guard, was issued on the 7th, after Civil Guard agents deployed in Senegal learned that the boat had departed from the Senegalese coast of San Luis two days earlier bound for the Canary Islands.

The Sasemar 103 plane and the Guardamar Talía of Maritime Rescue have been searching this Monday for the "wooden" canoe in waters south of the Canary Islands, although the adverse weather has forced the suspension of the search, which will resume when the weather improves, according to this organization.

From the Civil Guard have pointed out that the specific destination of the boat is unknown, although it is estimated that it could reach the coast on the 11th.
