Toyota's headquarters in Arrecife suffered an attempted robbery on Sunday night, when at least two people entered the warehouse after breaking a small window in the roof. To get inside the premises, the assailants would have used a rope, which was later found at the scene.
Fortunately, when the alarm went off, the assailants fled, so they did not manage to perpetrate the robbery. "Thank God they didn't take anything, partly due to the rapid arrival of a National Police patrol, which was in the Argana area," they explain from the company.
In addition to "breaking the small window" in the roof, "they left some cabinets open and broke some alarm sensors", although they did not cause any further damage. When the agents arrived and carried out a first inspection, "they saw that an alarm sensor was torn from the wall, so they activated a more serious protocol", according to the company.
In fact, they emphasize "the rapid action of the police" and the "dedication", as they state that they spent "three hours searching among the cars and in the facilities", and even plainclothes agents were in the vicinity in case the thieves returned to act.
However, so far there have been no arrests for these events. In addition, this attempted robbery adds to other similar episodes that have been experienced in other warehouses in Arrecife, where the assailants have also used ropes to access the premises from the roof.
