The National Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in Arrecife after attacking his ex-partner's boyfriend with a bottle, causing a wound to his face that required about 40 stitches.
The events occurred this Saturday, February 5, outside the Jet Set nightclub, located on Manolo Millares Street. The victim was in the vicinity of the nightclub talking to his girlfriend and, according to La Voz, the appearance of the girl's ex-boyfriend was the cause of the fight, in which "seven or eight people" participated, all of them of South American origin and between 20 and 23 years old.
The brawl also resulted in a second person injured with a stab with a knife in the back. This second person affected is the brother of the detainee, although he did not present serious injuries.
According to the National Police, the arrest took place at the Molina Orosa Hospital, since when the agents arrived at the scene, the witnesses indicated that they had moved to that health center. However, when inspecting the area, they found and collected the knife with which the second victim of the brawl was attacked.
Once the agents arrived at Molina Orosa, they spoke with the first victim and a witness, who told them what happened, and there they also located the alleged aggressor, who was arrested. The young man was born in Ecuador but has Spanish nationality, according to police sources.
