The Local Police of Teguise arrested a man on Tuesday in Costa Teguise while he was stealing money from several telephone booths in the area. The arrest was carried out when the agents were carrying out surveillance tasks on Avenida de Las Palmeras and observed how a person manipulated the booths and seemed to extract money from the return box of the device.
Once the agents approached, they discovered how the person in question removed a plastic bag from the coin return box and later verified that the installation of these bags in the booths prevented the return from coming out.
At the time of the arrest, J.E.F, 52 years old, was carrying more than 910 euros and also the police found on one of the booths and inside his vehicle, parked nearby, several metallic objects of different sizes in the shape of a picklock.
From the Local Police of Teguise they affirm that they are "intensifying their patrol and surveillance work in the towns of the municipality to prevent crime and arrest the alleged offenders in the same moments in which they commit the crime". According to these surveillance systems, last week two agents arrested several young people who, also in Costa Teguise, were stealing the tires of a car parked on public roads.
