The Civil Guard has managed to clarify a robbery that occurred two and a half years ago in the church of Playa Blanca, from where a small chest with a tabernacle was taken. The detainee, of foreign nationality, is 37 years old and responds to the initials S.M. In addition, he has "numerous police records", according to the Civil Guard.

The robbery occurred in the early morning of January 26, 2014 and after receiving the complaint, the agents of the Territorial Team of Judicial Police (ETPJ) of the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías went to the church in search of evidence to clarify the robbery. In that inspection, the agents were able to collect fingerprints, but they were "not very visible or scarce in their characteristic points", which are those that allow identifying a person already included in a police database. Even so, they explain, they were sent to the Criminalistics Service of the Civil Guard in Madrid.

"The investigation and clarification of the robbery was hampered by the poor quality of the fingerprints collected, and later by the person related to the aforementioned fingerprints, who presented four different identities, which further hampered the investigations for their location," explains the Civil Guard, who finally found the alleged perpetrator on September 9.

The detainee, together with the investigations obtained in the investigation, has been placed at the disposal of the corresponding duty court.
