A woman in her 70s has died in the early hours of this Saturday after suffering a violent attack at her home in San Bartolomé, allegedly at the hands of her own son. The event would have taken place around 2 in the morning, although it was not until 4 when a call activated the Security and Emergency Coordinating Center 112.
Apparently, the aggressor's girlfriend gave the warning, when he showed up at her house in the early morning, confessing that he had killed his mother, according to several sources to La Voz.
To the house, located on Rubicón street, health personnel and agents of the Civil Guard have moved, who have had to force the door to access the interior. There they found the woman lifeless. Her son has been arrested this morning and is waiting to be brought to justice.
The tragic event has shocked the town of San Bartolomé, as it is also a well-known family. The deceased was a worker at the Town Hall and her son works at the Tourist Centers, specifically in Montañas del Fuego.
"We can't believe it"
"We are absolutely shocked, it is a tragedy. We can't believe it," the mayor of San Bartolomé, María Dolores Corujo, told La Voz. According to her, the family was "well-known" and "very loved" in the municipality, "very good people".
Regarding the alleged murderer, about 43 years old, they describe him as "someone very shy and polite", from whom no one could expect him to do something like that.
Apparently, the detainee lived with his partner, also in San Bartolomé, although some sources indicate that for a few days he was residing again at his mother's house. Both homes are quite close and, after the event, the man went to his girlfriend's house, in the middle of the night, and she was the one who gave the warning of what happened.
The victim had another daughter, who currently resides in Tenerife. According to the first data, she did not present weapon wounds and apparently died as a result of one or several blows with some object.
