Four officers of the Local Police of Tías were injured of varying severity this Tuesday, when they were trying to subdue a man who was acting violently inside an apartment in Puerto del Carmen. The same, according to the police force, hit and bit the officers.
The events took place early in the morning, when officers of the Local Police were commissioned to go to a home in Puerto del Carmen, where apparently blows, noises of broken glass and screams of a woman were heard, suspecting that it was some episode of gender or domestic violence.
At the place, only a couple of officers arrived at first, who were informed by several witnesses that an individual who was on the top floor of the building was out of control and causing damage inside, in addition to a woman, owner of the apartment, who was trying to escape from the place.
An "aggressive and defiant" attitude
Immediately afterwards, they observed a man with a bloody face and legs who, upon noticing the presence of the officers, pounced on them and pushed them. Immediately afterwards, he threw a small refrigerator at them, maintaining "an aggressive and defiant attitude."
When he was warned to stop his attitude, he ignored it and attacked the officers again. At that moment, two other police officers arrived and together they tried to calm the individual, without success.
Finally, one of the officers managed to knock him down and when trying to immobilize him to put the handcuffs on him, the individual bit the officer on one of his fingers of the hand, causing a possible fracture and avulsion of the nail bed (nail). Subsequently, he did the same with another officer, whom he also bit one of his fingers of the hand, which led to suture.
In aid of the officials also came troops of the Civil Guard of Tías and health personnel, who supplied various tranquilizers to the subject. To the place also came two teams of firefighters, given that it was necessary to take the subject out through the balcony, given the impossibility of doing it internally.
Transferred to the Hospital and the health center
Two officers were transferred to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, where they were assisted, and two others to the Tías health center, for erosions and minor blows.
The aggressor was also transferred to the same hospital center, where he remains admitted and guarded by agents of the Civil Guard of Tías, for his being placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
