The accident occurred at 00:51 hours last morning on the section of the LZ-2 road that runs between Arrecife and Playa Blanca, near the gas station in the area, and it involved a 28-year-old man, who suffered a traumatic brain injury that cost him his life, and a 24-year-old woman whose identity was not provided yesterday and who suffered multiple serious contusions, with trauma to the elbow.

The staff of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), which sent a basic life support ambulance and an advanced life support ambulance to the scene, to which an assistance unit from the NGO Spanish Red Cross was added, transferred the injured woman to the General Hospital of the Island.

They also performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on the man, which were unsuccessful, as he died at the scene of the accident.

Also present at the scene were members of the Local Police and the Civil Guard of Yaiza, who were in charge of instructing the appropriate procedures, the firefighters and Civil Protection.
