The Helimer 210 helicopter carried out a medical evacuation of a crew member traveling on the Aidastella cruise ship on Tuesday afternoon, which was heading to Lanzarote. The action took place 90 miles from Arrecife, as reported this Wednesday by Maritime Rescue.
The affected person, a 26-year-old of Indian nationality, had suffered epileptic seizures, so it was decided that he required an urgent transfer to a hospital. The Maritime Rescue operation began at 3:30 p.m. and ended at 5:15 p.m.
The Helimer 2010 helicopter transferred him to the Lanzarote airport, where he had to be evacuated to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, since this hospital center does not have a helipad.
The ship had departed from Funchal, in Madeira, and was heading to Lanzarote, so it did not have to deviate from its route.
