The conejeras students Aianara Suárez, from IES San Bartolomé, and Tiara Lomba, from IES Puerto del Carmen, have been awarded in the II Galdosianos Writing and Photography Contest, in the act held last week by the Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands.
In the creative writing category, the awards went to the text entitled "Teodoro Golfín", made by the student Ainara Suárez, and to "It's not her fault", by Tiara Lomba, also from Lanzarote.
For his part, the photography prize went to "Steel, Stone and Literature", a work presented under the pseudonym "Skate", by the student Hannah María de la Vega Monzón, from IES Guanarteme (Gran Canaria).
The Galdosian creative writing and photography contests are part of the events organized to commemorate the centenary of the death of the Canarian writer Benito Pérez Galdós, and are organized by the Communication Area and the School Reading and Libraries Program in collaboration with the Pérez Galdós professorship of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the House-Museum of the same name.
The La Laguna Teachers' Center also hosted the award ceremony for the "May 30. Heritage of the Canary Islands" initiatives. The event was attended by the Director General of Educational Planning and Innovation, Gregorio Cabrera, and the Director of CEP La Laguna, Santiago Afonso.
The school contest "May 30. Heritage of the Canary Islands" is integrated into the "Enseñas" program and aims to promote and facilitate knowledge about the Canarian cultural heritage of the students. Specifically, it seeks that the students "appreciate, enjoy and respect the cultural, historical, patrimonial, geographical, natural, social and linguistic aspects of the Archipelago through the promotion of creativity".
In this case, the recognitions were for students of the CEIP San Matías, CEO Santiago Apóstol, CEPA Mogán, CEO Guajara, IES Playa de Arinaga and the CEPA Güímar.
