The trailer for 'Bitter Christmas', Pedro Almodóvar's new film shot in Lanzarote which will premiere in cinemas in January 2026, can now be seen. The preview, released last Thursday, December 18, by Warner Bros Spain, allows **several emblematic locations on the island to be recognized**, reinforcing its projection as a top-tier natural film set.

The first images in the trailer identify iconic locations such as La Geria and El Golfo beach, where the Charco de los Clicos is located, both sites situated in the municipality of Yaiza. Volcanic landscapes of high natural value that once again serve as a backdrop for a major film production, consolidating the institutional commitment to attract filming to the island.

This line of work is driven by entities such as the Lanzarote Film Commission, which is part of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and continues to position the island as a strategic destination for the national and international audiovisual sector.

Amarga Navidad has been filmed between Lanzarote and Madrid, with recordings on the island made during July and August. One of the first scenes filmed took place precisely on the beach of Charco de los Clicos, in the southern town of El Golfo, a location that is already part of the cinematic imagination linked to Lanzarote.

The feature film is produced by El Deseo and features a distinguished cast led by Bárbara Lennie, Leonardo Sbaraglia, and Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, along with Victoria Luengo, Patrick Criado, Milena Smit, and Quim Gutiérrez.

The filming also had a direct impact on the local population, as it featured the participation of numerous extras from Lanzarote, aged between 7 and 75 years old. All of them were legally hired, paid for their work, and registered with Social Security, highlighting the positive impact that these types of productions generate on the island's economy and employment.

With this new project by Pedro Almodóvar, Lanzarote once again demonstrates its ability to attract major productions and project its unique landscape to the world through cinema.

Almodóvar's second film in Lanzarote

This is the second film by the director from La Mancha with scenes filmed on the island, after Broken Embraces (2009), starring Penélope Cruz and Lluís Homar, which also chose Lanzarote locations such as Charco de Los Clicos beach, Mirador del Río, Famara beach, or the roundabout near the César Manrique Foundation, in Tahíche.
