“What do you think of island rap?”, asked the rapper and philologist Isis to the public gathered at Islote de Fermina to see La Jaula del Canario, a platform of rappers and beatmakers from Lanzarote that are another of the local designations of origin that we can feel very proud of.
She, the only woman in the group, dared to perform a cappella, exhibiting lyrics that question today's society and an absolutely powerful staging. Together with her, Rudo, Merino, Cabrera, Guuzshit, Elliot and Flecha Maldita launched their rhymes and beats.
The war cry of Kolpez Blai, all together as a rugby team, attracted the spectators of the concert who took positions around the Basque percussionists who seconds later began to spin like tops, throw cymbals, jump, hit their drumsticks on trucks and fences, and march through the streets of the city.
Kolpez Blai once again won over spectators and pedestrians, crossing Calle Real and spreading their spirit to the workers of several shops who came out to greet and dance during the parade.
On the stage of the Charco de San Ginés, the Jerez duo Space Surimi went up to organize an electro-futurist party that surprised the festival audience, always willing to discover new bands on each concert route.
MC Eddie Coopermen and producer Carlboro have been demonstrating since 2012 that they make a rap that is difficult to label and, above all, very far from the icons associated with the genre. Their thing is anti-pose lyrics, associated with the life of their neighborhood, with the reality that is closest to them. Theirs may have been the most fun live performance of the entire festival.
The parade crossed the Charco and arrived at the Marina Lanzarote marina, compact and increasingly excited, to see the Funk Experience show, a hybrid and brilliant show by three “brothers”: producer and DJ R de Rumba, multi-instrumentalist Carlos Porcel and talkboxer Sholo Truth.
“But 15 minutes ago there was no one here!”, Rubén Cuevas, mythical producer and member of Violadores del Verso, was surprised. “How cool!”.
The show was a tribute to African-American culture, which fluctuated between funk, groove, rap and jazz. The public's response: a fluid choreography of bodies following the undulating melodies of the musicians, who also marked an improvisation.
Kolpez Blai said goodbye in style at the entrance roundabout to the Cruise Ship Pier, which was filled to receive the Sevillian Tote King for the first time in Lanzarote, considered the most influential rapper in Spanish in the history of the genre.
Friday's concert was part of his King Tape tour, which takes his latest album live: 18 hits, half of them unreleased tracks and full of collaborations.
This album comes after the album Lebron (nominated for a Latin Grammy) and the book Búnker (Blackie Books, 2020), two works that represent two radiographs of the concerns that structure the Sevillian artist.
With a few minutes of delay compared to the scheduled time, Tote was acclaimed with an ovation at the Cruise Ship Pier. The rows closest to the stage were occupied by fans of the artist from ten o'clock at night.
His concert was a constant launch of phrases that caught on in the brain. Quotes to think about and rhythms to dance to. He was accompanied on stage by dj Nexxa, Enjoy Canoa and mc Demonio.
The set by R de Rumba and dj CHK closed a night in which there was a large presence of young people in Marina Lanzarote.
Friday, October 6, third concert route
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has highlighted that these Arrecife en Vivo concerts are integrated into the dynamization that is being launched from the City Council to revitalize the entire maritime front of the capital of Lanzarote. The Consistory joins this program, in the tenth edition of the Arrecife en Vivo festival, during this autumn, with other dynamizing proposals in the open commercial area of the capital of Conejera.

It is important to remember that, according to the law, minors under 18 years of age will not be able to access the Cruise Ship Pier. As usual, admission to the concerts will be free.
