The Municipal Theater of San Bartolomé will host this Tuesday, May 14, the presentation of the film Los Corujo, historia de una saga, a documentary work by the journalist, director, screenwriter and producer from Lanzarote José María de Páiz that deals with the story of a family whose surname is strongly linked to music, culture and Canarian tradition in Lanzarote. The screening of the work, which will take place at 8:30 p.m., will be free until full capacity is reached.

The film narrates the power of music transferred to an entire family in which talent overflows through a natural channel. With a folkloric base, strongly rooted in popular culture, the saga of Los Corujo is born.

Since El Jariano inoculated his three grandchildren: Antonio, Domingo and Florián with the need to express themselves with instruments and songs, this need has been transmitted from parents to children in a natural way, being today a conglomerate of outstanding musicians who, without fleeing from their roots, explore all kinds of musical aspects in an outstanding way.

Los Corujo are not only music, they are part of the history of Canarian immigration to Venezuela, the recovery of songs such as the Ranchos de Pascuas or the conservation of the artisanal craft of creating timples... Coplas, folías, malagueñas, ópera, rock, jazz, trap... are Los Corujo.

The story of this story takes place in Lanzarote, a field in which all its protagonists have developed their outstanding musical careers. This, without a doubt, has not only been a place of inspiration and space for experiences, but has also been the place where, with or without music, other stories have been fed that, due to the passage of time or the personal circumstances of the protagonists, have led to the appearance of other scenarios, such as immigration to Venezuela or the barber's trade.

In all the protagonists there is great respect and love for their land and customs, the legacy they transmit has been absorbed and transmitted in a natural way.
