The Timple House-Museum of the Villa de Teguise hosted the event where the jury of the Love and Heartbreak Letter Contest Los Novios de El Mojón announced the letters selected as the best of the 384 received, from all corners of the world.
The winner of this XV edition of the literary contest was 'In case I forget your name', by Vanesa Martínez López (Valencia), who received the first prize of 500 euros. In second place, with a prize of 300 euros, “The baobab dream”, by María Posadillo (Málaga).

The Councilor for Culture of Teguise, Nori Machín, presided over an event marked by capacity limitations, but which featured music from the Teguise Municipal School and exceptional storytellers such as members of the Letras para el Alma Reading Club and Literary Thursdays of Teguise, who read the eight semi-finalist letters. The jury “with a difficult choice to make", was made up of María Moreiras, Laura San José and Esaú Pérez, to whom the mayor thanked "for their collaboration and good judgment”, highlighting "the success in the reception of letters, which continues to increase in each edition, and also the literary level of the same".
IX Short Story Contest
For its part, the Education area of Teguise, on the occasion of the celebration of Book Day, has announced the IX Short Story Contest, in which all students who are studying during the 2020/2021 academic year the third cycle of Primary Education (5th and 6th) and ESO (1st-4th), in public, private or subsidized schools in the municipality of Teguise may participate; as well as students who, even residing in the municipality, have their reference center outside of it.
“The theme will be free, the works must be original and unpublished, and the originality and treatment of the chosen theme will be valued, in addition to syntactic and orthographic precision, reasoning ability, coherence and cohesion of the story,” explained Councilor Javier Díaz.
The deadline for submitting works is now open, and will be received exclusively by email to: [email protected], until May 14. The prizes in the three categories will be gift vouchers worth 100 euros for school supplies, and the jury's decision will be made public before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4. through the municipal website www.teguise.es
