Last Friday night, the Arrecife Civic Center hosted the "Fourth Concert corresponding to the VII Arrecife Classical Concert Series, by the violinists Luis Montesdeoca, Pablo Melián, Ayoze Rodríguez viola, the cellist Marisa Roda and the double bass player and member of the board of the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote, Ivanoff Rodríguez.
As usual in each of the scheduled concerts, the introduction was given by the dancer and choreographer Acerina H. Toledo, who gave a brief biography of how her beginnings in dance had been and the important role of her mother in the entire learning process and in her dedication, of which she still has her support. Acerina's intervention was also accompanied by the projection of photos in which the public could place the work and dedication in favor of dance in Lanzarote. Acerina ended her intervention with the firm conviction of the role of women in society and her own in the daily work and dedication.
Immediately afterwards, the concert began with the String Quintet of the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote performing Mozart's Serenade No. 13 for strings in G Major followed by Elgar's Serenade for strings in E Minor Op.20, of which the second movement, the Larghetto, stood out, executed with extraordinary precision that delighted the audience. Ivanoff Rodríguez gave a brief introduction to the works performed and the following two, which were Kalinnikov's Serenade for strings in G Minor, ending with Mozart's Divertimento in D Major, and the attending public appreciated the virtuosity and quality of the musicians, who gratefully presented them with an encore, Air from Suite No. 3 in D Major by J. S. Bach.
The members of the String Quintet of the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarte are musicians based in Gran Canaria who have a connection with the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote since its beginnings, participating in different concerts and shows such as "Tempo Lanzarote", which was held for two years in the Auditorium of Los Jameos del Agua, the "Concert in Vela", in the Charco de San Ginés and the previous cycles carried out in Lanzarote.
For the closing concert, which will be next Friday the 31st of this month at 8:00 p.m., it will be given by the Basque pianist "Josu Okiñena" and the Lebanese tenor "Kalim Sulayman. Without a doubt, it will be a real luxury to have these two artists. If we already know Josu Okiñena's achievements, we must add that he will recently join as a member of the Royal Basque Society of Friends of the Country for his countless works of rescuing Basque music and the studies carried out. Sulayman is a renowned Lebanese tenor residing in New York with an extensive curriculum as a tenor and magnificent performer that earned him a Grammy in 2019
The closing concert will be based on a repertoire with works by Monteverdi, Merula, Schubert, Hann and others, the performers will close this cycle in which the painter Rufina Santana will participate.
