The Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture hosted this Friday the new program of "Proximity Concerts" organized by the Nino Díaz Foundation with the collaboration of the Culture and Social Welfare departments of the Arrecife City Council.

The first of the concerts was presented by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Maite Corujo, who informed the public about the objectives set by her colleague Abigail González, the most important of which is to bring culture closer to all the neighborhoods of Arrecife. In the first part, four concerts will be held in the neighborhoods of San Francisco Javier, La Vega and Argana Baja, and later there will be a second phase that will reach the remaining neighborhoods.

Subsequently, Nino Díaz was in charge of presenting the artists participating in this first concert, specifically the international guitarist born in Lanzarote, Diego Barber, who from a very young age was attracted to the guitar, receiving his first lessons in Lanzarote with Professor Miguel Ángel Calzadilla. Later, the maestro Toñín Corujo, who expanded his studies at the Arturo Soria Conservatory and at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Salamanca. Diego Barber is also a trainer, composer and arranger, his compositions and arrangements have been included in the repertoires of the best guitarists in the world, he currently lives in New York, where he has recorded five albums which have obtained recognition from the specialized press. He has been nominated for a Grammy in the category of Instrumental Jazz Album 2010. Diego Barber has performed concerts in numerous cities in European and American countries such as Greece, Austria, Spain, Germany, France, the United States, Mexico, etc. The Lanzarote native is known for the grandeur and majesty of his guitar style.

In addition, Nino Díaz presented the writer and narrator Félix Hormiga, born in Lanzarote, and according to him, he has written for the pleasure of narrating the visible and the invisible. At a very early age he began to write small stories that the passage of time has swallowed. His last three published books are Assa, La vieja a veces bebía and Arrecife. Félix Hormiga recited some of the poems collected in his publications "Con el rabo del ciclón", published in 1992. Hormiga fulfilled his promise to honor and thank those men and women who lived on the sea and created enough economy to avoid abandoning the island.

The audience enjoyed each of the compositions masterfully performed on the guitar by Diego Barber and the stories in the voice of Félix Hormiga, rewarding him with their applause.
