Saturday and Sunday there will be live concerts, hurling, tributes to U2, Queen and Tina Turner, a grand parade and dance shows

Puerto del Carmen has already been experiencing the festive atmosphere of the Saint Patrick's celebration, patron saint of Ireland, with great animation in its streets and bars since this week. The tourist town of Lanzarote is dyed green this weekend with a program organized by the City Council of Tías and the Island Council with the collaboration of various entities and companies.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, invites residents and visitors to participate in the scheduled events and in the consolidation of Puerto del Carmen "as an attractive platform for diversified businesses that benefit the municipality, the business sector and the improvement of the quality of life of residents and workers."

Program

The festival will begin on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Playa Grande, with the celebration of a hurling match (team sport of Celtic origin) and beach volleyball. For the afternoon, starting at 5:00 p.m., a cultural exchange between local and Irish groups has been planned in the Plaza del Varadero, which will last until 12:00 a.m. Saturday's performances will feature groups of Celtic roots and the Güerma folk group, the Screensavers group performance and tributes to Tina Turner, Queen and U2.

On Sunday, March 17, at 11:00 a.m., a mass will be held in the Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, church of Puerto del Carmen, and at 12:35 p.m. the protocol act of raising flags of both countries will take place. The parade is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. along Avenida de las Playas from the San Antonio hotel area to Plaza del Varadero. Music groups, floats, classic cars, motorcycles, dance groups, giant ladies and much more will stand out.

In the Plaza del Varadero, where there will be Irish and Canarian gastronomy, live music will be offered from 1:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Rythm Republic, Gayle O'Donovan, Dessie Hynes, the Beatrice Senent dance group, Celtic roots, The Taverners, performances by Alegranza Folk, Ellen & Steve and dj will perform.
