Festival program in Arrecife:
- Thursday, July 4th
Filmmaker and marine biologist Rick Rosenthal, an Emmy winner, and his team of scientists reveal the true nature of manta rays. These majestic creatures of almost nine meters wingspan have the largest brain of all fish, and show a behavior closer to that of large marine mammals. Their courtship and mating displays also give us clues about their social sophistication. Some scientists suggest that they may even be self-aware. In the vicinity of divers, they are curious and interact with them in unusual ways.

- Friday, July 5th
March 1945: for the Germans, the war has long been lost. Decades after the horrific events, a team of archaeologists has continued to work in the Arnsberg forest in Germany, trying to restore some dignity to those murdered there, recovering and burying the last seven victims. Unfortunately, a federal road passes over the place where they were buried by their executioners; they can probably never be recovered.
The war crimes that occurred between March 17 and 20, 1945 cast a dark shadow over the post-war period: the murderers did not appear before justice until decades later, the lenient sentences and acquittals caused scandal, and the memory of the events made it difficult for the Germans to definitively leave the war behind. This documentary explores what happened in that forest and at that time, reproduces the course of events with the help of recreations and archival material, allows witnesses to speak for the first time and analyzes the reasons why the murder of 208 men, women and children went almost unpunished.
