The Sociedad Democracia of Arrecife hosted, on Monday, October 11, the posthumous tribute to Gerardo Arbelo Gopar, recently deceased, framed in the celebration of the LIV anniversary of the inauguration of the social headquarters

The emotional act was presided over by his wife Saro and his children Gerardo and David, and included the participation of 12 singers who performed some of the songs with which Arbelo participated in the song galas and festivals, held precisely at the Sociedad Democracia, in addition to doing so in the municipalities and neighborhoods of the island of Lanzarote.

During the 80s and 90s, Gerardo Arbelo was a regular at song festivals, where he performed singers of the moment such as Camilo Sesto, Roberto Carlos, José Vélez, Javier Solís or Albert Hammond among others. Some of those famous songs were 'Lady Laura', 'No por Favor', 'Esclavo y Amo' or 'A sailboat called Libertad'.

The 12 participating singers were highly applauded by the public and were accompanied on the piano by two great professionals, Pepe Artiles and Ginés Musik, who gave all their potential, greatly achieving the objectives that had been set for such a special day.

After the musical performances, a video was shown where family members and the public, who filled the allowed capacity, were able to see and hear Gerardo sing on stage, as well as the message sent by his sister Rosana.

The president of the Sociedad Democracia, Juan Carlos Alonso, addressed those present "thanking Gerardo's widow and children for attending the event", and on behalf of the board he chairs, he presented them with a photo and a bouquet of flowers, thus ending the tribute to Gerardo Arbelo Gopar.
