Agents of the Civil Guard of Lanzarote moved this Wednesday morning, December 24, following an alert about a boat sailing with drugs off the coast of Punta Mujeres, in the municipality of Haría.
According to information obtained by La Voz, the Zodiac-type vessel was intercepted by the Civil Guard's Integrated External Surveillance System, known as SIVE, from Gran Canaria. When the agents were able to reach the boat, there was only one crew member and traces of gasoline inside, but no sign of the drugs.
A witness revealed to this outlet that the police deployment occurred after 7:00 AM, at the Punta Mujeres pier. Hashish bales were reportedly being sought at the location.
Within the framework of this operation, at least one person has been arrested, but more arrests cannot be ruled out, as everything indicates that other involved individuals may have fled in two vans.
According to what La Voz has learned, a patrol boat and a helicopter have been combing the area throughout the morning in an attempt to locate the drugs.
