Arrecife breaks a record in business openings and company creation by the end of 2025. According to data from companies registered with Social Security, released this week by the Data Center, the capital of Lanzarote accounts for 37% of the total companies registered on the island.
In November, the increase in companies reached 1,941 operating in Arrecife, out of a total of 5,214 registered companies in the seven municipalities of Lanzarote. For comparison, up to last October the figure stood at 1,918 companies, and **in November it reached 1,941, with it being very likely that 2025 will close with around 2,000 companies in the capital of Lanzarote.**
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has highlighted that "this high volume of companies reflects the dynamism that the city is experiencing with the opening of new businesses in the hospitality, commerce, leisure, restaurant, and logistics sectors, which are contributing to the creation of new jobs".
For the mayor, the revitalization initiated by the Municipal Government he presides over, "is succeeding in making entrepreneurs and SMEs focus their attention on Arrecife due to the new commercial and labor opportunities that also contribute to the generation of new employment and the record registration of contributors to Social Security."Arrecife's strength as a cruise destination, with over 650,000 cruise passengers in 2025, the boom in the construction sector, where new residents prefer to live in the capital, the opening of new hospitality businesses, and the rise of local commerce, are all contributing to the establishment of new SMEs in this city, which is also the capital of the peripheral island in both the Balearic and Canary archipelagos, with a resident population exceeding 72,000 inhabitants.
Yonathan de León congratulates that "the city comes alive and becomes the epicenter of commerce, leisure, and business centers in the overall economy of Lanzarote".
