The Arrecife Prosecutor's Office is investigating the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León (Popular Party), and the deputy mayor, Echedey Eugenio (Coalición Canaria), after receiving a complaint from lawyer Octavio Topham for alleged irregularities in the contracting of different parties held in the municipality between 2023 and 2024.

The Public Prosecutor's Office has requested the full copy of the administrative files related to the Navilan Fair 2023, Carnival 2024, and the April Fair 2024.

The Prosecutor's Office has already sent two official requests to the Arrecife City Council. In the official request to which this outlet has had access, the Public Prosecutor's Office gave the City Council **ten days** to submit, along with these files, the resolutions of objections lifted by the mayor to the Intervention reports, as well as the intervention reports themselves relating to the contracting files, technical reports and memorandums, the list of contracted companies and individuals, and the municipal treasury report. In addition to all the cited documentation, it has also requested a preliminary report from the municipal Audit Office of the Arrecife City Council to determine the **legality of the contracts**, the reasons for the objections, **possible indications of contract splitting**, or the improper use of minor contracts, and the impact of lifting objections on financial control and prior oversight.
