Last Friday, the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote closed the days corresponding to the "VII Classical Concerts Arrecife 2023 Cycle." The hall of the Arrecife Civic Center was the stage chosen for the closing, which was given by the Lebanese tenor Karim Sulayman and the Basque pianist Josu Okiñena.

The introduction was given by the painter Rufina Santana, who recounted how her difficult beginnings as an artist in a humble neighborhood of Gran Canaria were until, after a while, she met Lanzarote and who is now her husband, the artist Paco Curbelo. Rufina puts the finishing touch to the fifth of the concerts where the direction of the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote has been pleased to visualize the role of women in this cycle called "Music, Woman and Art."

Tenor and pianist began the concert with a varied repertoire of composers, Monteverdi, Caccini, Schubert, Poulenc, Karrikaburu, Donostia and Hahn. Sulayman began with "Si Dolce é il tormento" by Monteverdi, a Renaissance composition with extraordinary pines powerfully drawing attention in the middle of the repertoire, the composition of the French Polenc "NousVoulons une Petitesoeur", (Four children's songs: We want a Little Sister), in which Sulayman stood out with his interpretive skills.

In this closing concert, some works by "Aita Donostia" were also heard, inspired by the Basque people, masterfully interpreted by the Lebanese Sulayman, continuing with the compositions of Reynaldo Hahn de Echenagucia, partner of the French poet Marcel Proust, who in scores such as L'enamourée La barcheta, displays an elegant romanticism inspired by beautiful poems to which Karin Sulayman interpreted giving everything, receiving for it the most sonorous applause of the night.

Roberto Fuentes, manager of the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote before the end of the concert addressed all those present to thank the official organizations and collaborating companies, the five women in charge of carrying out each of the introductions in the five concerts to all the artists, musicians and vocalists, the partners and technicians for their willingness and dedication. At this time, a lamina, work of the painter Rufina Santana called "Joys of Music" was given to the Basque pianist Josu Okiñena who was very grateful expressing feeling in love with this volcanic island to which he always comes when he can to work and above all, to enjoy and fill himself with energy.

Finally, after the closing of the acknowledgments, the pianist Josu Okiñena and the tenor Karin Sulayman returned to the stage to close and end a work that will surely remain in the retina of the attendees who stood up and dismissed them with their applause.
