The Sociedad Democracia hosted the presentation of the book "Corners of Lanzarote. Geography and Poetry", the new work by Ignacio Romero, on January 4. An event that filled the capacity, limited by the pandemic, and was attended by the president Juan Carlos Alonso.

The event began with the signing of books by the author until the beginning of the presentation where attendees enjoyed an hour of pleasant conversation and poetic readings by the author by Luz Mary Duque, Domingo Corujo, Tere Perera etc.

In this new book, Romero develops his usual function of disseminating natural and cultural heritage, but also with his poetic facet, with very emotional compositions that have arisen from the contemplation of the landscape. In the introduction to the book, the author himself states that "there are small geographical corners in any part of our planet, unique places that transmit different sensations to each person at a certain moment and even new emotions each time we visit it."

The author mixes narrative and poetry to approach spaces such as Janubio, Famara, Zonzamas, La Graciosa, the Pechiguera Lighthouse or La Geria. A total of 20 corners of which their historical and environmental treasures are described, in addition to proposing small hiking trails to get to know them better or readings related to those spaces. Along with this information, these places have served as inspiration for Ignacio Romero for poems full of life and memories.

Corners of Lanzarote is a work full of poetry but also of vindication against oblivion, milestones that marked a before and after on the island, its unique culture or unique characters who deserve to be remembered and praised. In the words of the playwright Pepa Clavo, this book is a "gratifying invitation to walk the Corners of Lanzarote from history, the human, the poetic and respect. A book-guide with a new air". The filmmaker Carmen Tortosa defines it as "a path open to knowledge with poetic brushstrokes." Domingo Corujo, writer, poet and musician from San Bartolomé speaks of the book and the author with these words "Ignacio Romero is sowing words that bloom in the spring of his book made poetry.

With a degree in Biology from the University of La Laguna and a master's degree in Environmental Management and Quality from the University of Granada, Ignacio Romero has been passionate about the natural environment since childhood, as well as the historical world of the Canary Islands and its traditional sports. During his training and professional process, he has specialized in environmental education and since 2005 he has worked as a hiking guide and educator, touring the geography of the Canary Islands and the Atlantic, and disseminating its environmental, historical, cultural and heritage values.
