The Gran Canaria timple player Hirahi Afonso presented his second album 'Lo Puro' last Friday night at the Santo Domingo de Teguise convent. The concert is part of the new program for the current year of the Casa-Museo del Timple.

Hirahi is a timple player but he is not a typical timple player, or at least his style is not similar to that of young Canarian timple players, perhaps this way of interpreting the music he composes was discovered from a very early age when he moved to Barcelona where he carried out his guitar career. And those years outside the islands discovered a different vision about the sound he wanted to transmit with his instrument and the timple entered the contemporary sounds in a city from which new talents emerged.

Hirahi Afonso, a timple player in constant motion, infected the public with a very novel, modern and fresh staging surrounded by four great professionals such as Ner Suárez on guitar, Alberto Limiñana on bass, Antonio Torres on percussion and the young majorera Julia Rodríguez in charge of putting the voice also playing the transverse flute and piano.

Afonso was interspersing some compositions included in his first work entitled 'Memento', while he was announcing the songs of 'Lo Puro', a work conceived over three years responding to the admiration that Hirahi feels for artists who have invited him to collaborate in an authentic creative process to which the sound of the timple has been added to the different musical styles of each of them.

The audience last Friday night by the hand of Hirahi and his band were able to verify that the timple was not only created to accompany in a parranda, and that it loses nothing of its identity interpreting other musical genres.

When Hirahi announced the end of the concert the enthusiastic audience asked him to continue interpreting the encore 'Dentro' with which everyone ended up dancing.

The Councilor for Culture present at the event Francisco Javier Díaz and the councilors Rita Hernández and Nereida González congratulated the entire team, giving Hirahi the poster announcing the concert.
