On June 22nd, the Honor Canario Urban Fest took place in Lanzarote, a musical gathering where national and international artists had the opportunity to connect with the public through music. In addition to the participation of singers of the stature of Cruz Cafuné from Tenerife, a contest was also held within the event to crown one of the opening acts as the winner of the first prize. After five finalists, the youngest, only 18 years old, César Saavedra, known as CZ, took the award of the contest.

The young man started creating his own music a little over two years ago out of pure curiosity. After showing his compositions to his friends, he set to work to publish a song. His songs talk about love and heartbreak, although, according to the artist, "most of the time I base myself on fiction because I am very young and I have not lived enough." The decision to participate in the contest came thanks to the insistence of his mother, also a singer, who supported him to take advantage of the opportunity. Thanks to this, César Saavedra became the winner of the first edition of the festival.

Although he plays the piano and is learning to play the guitar, the process of composing his songs is based on teamwork. A music producer makes the musical base and, afterwards, the singer works on that instrumental. "When I have it, I use a program with a microphone in my house and I start throwing melodies and I write the lyrics," he explains. As a result of this work, CZ already has approximately 15 published songs. "Last year we worked hard because we set out to release a song a month to keep the public active and people value it," says the artist.

The process to participate in the Honor Canario Urban Fest consisted of several qualifying phases from which César Saavedra was proclaimed winner. The conejero took a prize of 1,000 euros and the opportunity to record a music video. The singer will invest that money in recording new music, which is a boost in his career. And CZ and his team recorded the video clips with mobile phones. Currently, he works with Israel Martín from Lanzarote to create this type of content.

Regarding the festival experience, the artist assures that "the camaraderie was brutal and the organization unbeatable." He encourages all those who want to apply to the contest to do so, that the experience is worth it. CZ will soon publish new songs, including Las reglas no duran and Chori, songs that he sang on the stage of the Honor Canario Urban Fest.
