The Plaza de El Varadero in Puerto del Carmen was the scene this Friday of the staging of the Brazilian singer Carlinhos Brown in his first concert in Lanzarote. Thousands of people crowded La Tiñosa in this start of the Carnival, for which the City Council had the co-sponsorship of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through Turismo Lanzarote.
Before the start of Carlinhos Brown's concert, a message from the Tías City Council was projected on the stage's LED screens, with large ribbons, joining in the commemoration of International Women's Day. Even the Brazilian singer had words of encouragement for this day and for all the women in the world, handing the microphone to a woman from the audience, he emphasized that "women are the revolution of the world." "Society cannot be understood without women. We are all born of a woman", he said.
Before a devoted audience, Carlinhos Brown came down from the stage, approached the crowd and began to sing and dance among them, even improvising several choreographies, going around the huge stage that the City Council has installed for these Carnival festivities, which will have their main events this weekend.
Among the audience were the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, the deputy mayor and councilor of Tourism, Amado Jesús Vizcaíno, and the councilor of Festivities, Francisco Javier Aparicio, who welcomed the Brazilian artist to La Tiñosa moments before his departure to the stage, in the dressing room area.
A fireworks castle announced the expected exit of Carlinhos Brown, who was close to two hours singing and dancing for the multitude of people who crowded the Plaza de El Varadero.
After Saturday's parade, which for the first time will depart from the Playa de los Pocillos area, and not as until now from the Hotel San Antonio and Avenida de Italia, and which will feature the participation of 80 groups, including murgas, comparsas, batucadas, and floats, on Sunday the Day Carnival will take place with performances by Pepe Benavente and the Salvapantallas Group.
