The Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Commerce, is launching the programming for the campaign and revitalization “¡Qué bien me sabe Arrecife!”, an initiative aimed at the promotion of local products, commercial revitalization, and the enhancement of cultural traditions of the municipality and Lanzarote.
The first of the planned actions will take place this Saturday, May 23, at the Traditional Market in Plaza de Las Palmas, with a cultural event that will feature the participation of Parranda Marinera de Buches and Coros y Danzas de Arrecife, two benchmarks of the island's popular and traditional heritage.
The programming will begin from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM with the performance of Parranda Marinera de Buches and will continue from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM with Coros y Danzas de Arrecife, bringing residents and visitors a sample of traditional Canarian culture in one of Arrecife's most emblematic commercial spaces.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has highlighted that “this initiative aims to bring local products and our traditions closer to the citizens, while also generating movement and revitalization in commercial spaces as important for Arrecife as the Traditional Market, which very soon, with the projects underway, will feature the opening of La Recova as a food market and gastronomic area, and La Pescadería Municipal, with a renewed project.”
From the Municipal Government of Arrecife, in addition to enhancing this enclave next to the church of San Ginés, where local farmers and producers market the best of the Conejero countryside every Saturday, it wishes to consolidate the entire square area for its gastronomic, commercial, and hospitality offerings.
For her part, the councilor for Commerce, Eli Merino, pointed out that “the programming of ‘¡Qué bien me sabe Arrecife!’ is born with the objective of uniting gastronomy, commerce, and local culture, creating activities that allow us to value our roots and at the same time support local commerce and products.”
This action is part of the project “Enhance and Promote Local Product Production and Consumption,” financed through a nominated subsidy from the Cabildo Insular de Lanzarote, and aims to strengthen the connection between tradition, commerce, gastronomy, and local products.
The campaign “¡Qué bien me sabe Arrecife!” will include, over the next few weeks, different cultural, gastronomic, and promotional activities in various spaces within the municipality, reinforcing commercial dynamism and the visibility of local products from Arrecife and Lanzarote.
