The Yaiza City Council must compensate two local police officers for the injuries they suffered in the line of duty. This has been assured by the Professional Union of Local Police and Firefighters (SPPLB), whose legal service has served both agents.

The union has reported through a statement that the police will receive 100% of the compensation after being recognized in a criminal proceeding.

In the line of duty, the officers tried to arrest a man who was causing a disturbance in a public establishment in the municipality. During the arrest they were attacked, the union says.

Although the troublemaker was arrested, according to this union, during the intervention the workers suffered "cuts of various consideration". At this point it specifies that the already convicted "managed to stick a glass in the back of the thigh of one of the agents."

The Police and Firefighters Union adds that "once the criminal proceedings were completed, the sentence condemned the perpetrator to compensate the agents for the injuries suffered, although he was declared insolvent."

For this reason, the officials claimed that compensation from the Yaiza City Council. Always according to the aforementioned statement, the consistory ignored said requirement.

Faced with this refusal, the legal service of the SPPLB filed a contentious-administrative appeal against the Yaiza City Council, a claim that was successfully resolved days before the judicial hearing.
