The Provincial Court judges two people for bringing a kilo of cocaine to Lanzarote

Both have been in provisional prison since February 9 for allegedly committing a crime against public health.

The First Section of the Provincial Court will judge next week in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria two people accused of introducing nearly one kilogram of cocaine at the César Manrique Airport in Lanzarote.

The events date back to February 6, 2023, when C.I.V.A. and L.M.R.T. arrived at terminal one of the aerodrome on an Iberia flight from Madrid. Specifically, the accused C.I.V.A. allegedly carried under her clothes four packages of cocaine with 990 grams in total. This drug had a purity of 66.54% and could reach up to 88,157.39 euros in the illicit market.

Both C.I.V.A. and L.M.R.T. have been in provisional prison since February 9 of this year and are accused of a crime against public health in its form of substances that cause serious damage to health.

The Public Prosecutor's Office requests for both a prison sentence of six years, with the accessory special disqualification for the right to passive suffrage during the time the sentence lasts. In addition to a fine amounting to 264,472.19 euros, as well as the confiscation of the drug and the payment of the costs of the trial.

The Prosecutor's Office does not request that the accused be returned to their country of origin given the penalty and the seriousness of the facts.
