The Second Section of the Provincial Court will try next Tuesday, October 14, in Arrecife, a man accused of attacking the dignity of his ex-partner in Playa Honda.
The events took place on October 15, 2022, when the accused allegedly insulted and assaulted his ex-partner in a bar in the aforementioned town, while she was in the company of a friend. According to the Prosecutor's Office's indictment, in the presence of a waiter, the man approached his ex-partner and said: "Whore, slut, nymphomaniac, you're playing the victim."
After that, and always according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, he approached his ex-wife and slapped her in the chest, threw an object at her face and kicked her in the side. Then, he hit her in the face and caused her to fall to the ground.
As a result of the aggression, the woman suffered different injuries and had to undergo surgery to close a wound on her lip, as well as requiring dental treatment and reconstruction of the upper left central incisor.
The victim spent 45 days healing her injuries and was unable to perform her usual occupations for 114 days. Furthermore, this has caused consequences for her mental health and a slight aesthetic impairment.
Among several messages presented by the Public Prosecutor's Office, several threats against the woman can be read: "You got away with it today, but don't let them see you around there again because they'll kill you, liar, son of a bitch" or "Be careful what you say or do" or "Report me if you want, because that's when I'll go to jail, not because I'm doing anything to you, but because of that son of a bitch, because I'm not going to leave a mark on him so that the report is useful."
As a result of these events, the accused has been in pre-trial detention since December 20, 2022.
The Public Prosecutor's Office accuses the man of a crime of injury and a crime of continued threats with the aggravating circumstance of gender and kinship. Therefore, it requests a prison sentence of five years and special disqualification from passive suffrage, a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching within 300 meters of the victim, her home or any other place frequented by her for a period of seven years, monitored by GPS.
In addition to a year in prison for threats, deprivation of the right to carry weapons for three years and a prohibition from approaching within 300 meters of the victim by any means. Also the payment of costs.
To conclude, the Public Prosecutor's Office requests that the victim be compensated with 2,200 euros for the injuries suffered and another 2,800 for the consequences.
