The Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try next week a man accused of sexually abusing two minors in Arrecife. The Prosecutor's Office is asking for 24 years in prison and 30 years of disqualification for any job related to minors, as well as compensation of 10,000 euros to one of the victims and 5,000 to the other.
According to the Public Prosecutor in his indictment, the events occurred on April 19, 2019, when the defendant, "taking advantage of the relationship of trust" he had with the victims, who were then 15 years old, invited them to sleep at his home.
In addition, he emphasizes that he was "fully aware of the special vulnerability" of one of them, "due to her situation of defenselessness and family breakdown, as she was admitted to a juvenile center in the town of Arrecife".
Once they were in the house, the Prosecutor's Office maintains that "moved by his sexual attraction to minors, with the intention of having sexual relations and thus satisfying his libidinous spirit, he offered them to have sex with him in exchange for money, and they accepted this proposal".
The indictment recounts the alleged relationships of all kinds that he had in that encounter with both victims, including penetration.
As a consequence of what happened, the Prosecutor's Office points out that one of the minors presents "depressive-type symptoms, a tendency to indiscipline and to isolate themselves due to distrust of others"; and the other "a mixed-type adaptive disorder with anxiety and depression, in addition to feelings of guilt and low self-esteem".
The Public Prosecutor's Office accuses him of two crimes of sexual abuse of a minor under 16 years of age and, in addition to the prison sentence -of 12 years for each minor- and the disqualification, asks that he be prohibited from approaching within 500 meters of the victims or communicating with them for 22 years, as well as several supervised release measures when he completes the prison sentence.
The hearing is scheduled to begin next Tuesday, March 22, before the Sixth Section of the Provincial Court, and a second session is scheduled for Friday, March 25, both in the Courts of Arrecife.
