After five months of a sharp increase in the number of cruise passengers arriving in Lanzarote between January and May of this year compared to 2021, with a total of 131,976 compared to 30,814, the July data confirms the downward trend that was already visible in June.
Last month, according to the Lanzarote Data Center with information from the Las Palmas Port Authority, 2,702 cruise visitors arrived at the port of Arrecife, 57% less than in the same period last year. June also experienced a decrease of nearly 50% compared to the same month in 2021.
Despite everything, the overall calculation for the first seven months of the year continues to be very positive compared to last year, with a growth of 243%, thanks to the strong increases experienced during the winter and Easter periods, which last year were still affected by the pandemic.
Regarding the figures prior to Covid, the data for the first seven months of this year are far from the figures reached in 2019, when more than 290,000 cruise passengers arrived, which is more than double the arrivals registered this year in the same period.
