Since the restrictive measures began to contain the covid 19 pandemic in the spring of 2020, the arrival of foreign tourists to Lanzarote plummeted.
Last year the figures prior to the pandemic were gradually recovered, until in October of last year they were exceeded, and they have not stopped growing. Lanzarote has already accumulated seven consecutive months with more arrivals than in 2019 from foreign airports.
In October of last year, the first month in which pre-pandemic figures were exceeded, 227,138 foreign tourists arrived by air. There were 16,000 more travelers than in the same month of 2019.
Since then it has happened every month, both in November and December of last year, as in the first four months of this year, in which about 11,000 more travelers have arrived on average per month from foreign airports than before the pandemic.
In the last month for which data exists, last April, there were almost 10,000 more travelers up to 217,920. Of these, the majority were British, a total of 124,893 arrivals from the United Kingdom.
Next, the Irish with 27,078 arrivals. The third place was for travelers from Germany (24,147) and the fourth for those who arrived from airports in France (21,444).
