Norwegian Cruise Line announced this Wednesday that its Norwegian Sun cruise ship will make trips to the Canary Islands in the season that begins in October, instead of some itineraries through Asia that it had scheduled.

According to cruiseindustry.com, the Miami-based company stated in a letter sent to people with reservations for the canceled cruises that the limitations imposed in some Asian countries for health reasons prevent it from complying with the Norwegian travel program through Asia.

Those trips, from 5 to 12 days, had as destinations, depending on the duration, Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and other countries. Instead of those itineraries, the Norwegian Sun, built in 2001 and with capacity for about 2,000 passengers, will make trips through the Canary Islands archipelago in the Atlantic, according to the portal.

No details have been given of the itineraries through the Canary Islands, one of the most popular Spanish tourist destinations, especially in the cold months in Europe, due to its mild climate. The company will refund the amount of the reservations to Asia or allow it to be exchanged for vouchers for future cruises.
