The San Bartolomé City Council has published the bases to access subsidies for the rehabilitation of private homes in the municipality, financed by the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canarian Housing Institute, within the framework of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025.

The total amount of the subsidy is "997,998.55 euros", co-financed between the ICAVI (867,824.83 euros) and the San Bartolomé City Council itself (in terms of vulnerable groups: 130,173.72 euros). Owners, tenants, usufructuaries or heirs registered in the municipality may be beneficiaries and the homes must be at least twenty years old on the date of submission of the application (except for exceptions established in the Regulatory Bases, such as vulnerable groups and accessibility actions) and must constitute the habitual and permanent domicile of the applicants. The actions subject to subsidy may not have been initiated prior to the submission of the application.

The deadline for submitting applications is two months from the publication of the extract of the call in the Official Gazette of Las Palmas and on the city council's website. Beneficiaries may obtain a subsidy of 50% of the eligible cost of each individual action, for a "maximum amount per home of 10,000 euros". In those homes in which the cohabitation unit is made up of a vulnerable group, the maximum percentage of the aid corresponding to that home on the affected investment will be 100% and will not exceed the previous limit of 10,000 euros, with the Canarian Housing Institute contributing 85% of the investment and the city council the remaining 15%.

The bases establish that rehabilitation works in isolated homes or inside homes in buildings (accessibility, kitchen and bathroom renovations, electrical installation, plumbing, roofs, terraces and facades, exterior carpentry, reinforcement or partial replacement of structural elements) are eligible for subsidies, works to improve energy efficiency as well as works in isolated homes in a situation of being out of order with the purpose of ceasing to be so if the necessary works are carried out for this.

Isidro Pérez has confirmed the “excellent line followed by the council since in the previous year we were the only city council on the island of Lanzarote to process these subsidies and, now we are the first city council to publish the regulatory bases for the benefit of our neighborhood”.
