César Manrique chose an old rofera to transform it into the current Cactus Garden, located in an area of a typical Lanzarote landscape with prickly pear plantations dedicated to the cultivation of cochineal.
There you can find 4,500 cactus specimens of about 500 different species brought from all over the world.
The spatial work is composed of an architecture full of decorative and sculptural elements integrated into an original environment, enhancing the natural beauty. The volcanic stone and basalt monoliths, converted into sculptures, give it a unique magnificence. And all this to crown the cactus as a botanical element that intoxicates the visitor in a poetic scenario in its shapes, textures and colors.
This center is internationally awarded, and is considered one of the most important cactus gardens in the world. The interaction of artistic languages developed by Manrique, called total art: is a combination of architecture, spatial intervention, sculpture, interior design or gardening that allow us to know it in its purest state.
Likewise, in this center you can enjoy a fun and quality gastronomy that pays tribute to the plant that gives meaning to everything, the cactus. When visitors arrive on the island, recommending this visit allows tourists to get a unique experience on their vacation.
