20 years of Global Massage Lanzarote

Sandra arrived in Lanzarote in 1995 and from the first day she felt that the island would be her home. 20 years ago, she left surfing to study the profession of chiromassage therapist and founded Global Massage Lanzarote, whose facilities she renovated in May, and which is one of the most valued centers on the island in its discipline, for its personalized work, where clients feel at home.

How did you decide to open Global Massage Lanzarote?

I always had the dream of setting up my own center to heal and help people. From a very young age I loved helping my friends and family. I especially remember the foot massages I gave my grandfather and the relief he felt. 20 years ago I decided to fulfill my dream and open the center.

How were you trained?

I studied to be a chiromassage therapist and then I did several specialties: intuitive massages (with eyes closed), reiki master, foot reflexology, Chinese cupping, basic shiatzu, sports massages...
I also have training in mindfulness techniques, bioenergetics, conscious breathing, meditation, shin jyutsu, among others.
Since then I have never stopped training, I love to be up to date with new techniques and ways to help people.

It shows that you are passionate about your work...

Very much so. It has been a passion since I was very young. I like it so much that when I arrived in Lanzarote in 1997 and started working in a surf school, when the students came back from surfing I gave them massages and they were delighted. After a few years, I decided to take a step forward and fulfill my dream. I feel fortunate and grateful to be able to exercise my passion every day.

What benefits does a chiromassage session produce for our body?

It produces many and varied benefits. It stimulates blood circulation, the lymphatic system. It stretches the soft tissues, eliminating adhesions, oxygenates the blood, relaxes the muscles, tendons, and nervous system.

It increases permeability, promotes enzyme production, helps with scars and promotes colon movement.

And to our mind?

A lot. It balances our mood. Most people when they think of `relax`, often think of a massage, and it is no coincidence. A good massage does a lot of good to our body, but also to our emotions and our mind.

Through chiromassage we can unblock the diaphragm and with a good breathing technique reduce anxiety and align body and mind.

What services do you offer?

Chiromassage service for athletes and relaxation; Duo massage; Foot reflexology; sacro-cranial massage, reiki, Amma massage, lymphatic drainage...

But the most important thing for me is to adapt the service to each client. My philosophy and my work protocol is to personalize the service to the needs of each person. We have training in many different techniques.

We also offer aesthetic services such as pedicure, manicure and facial.

Who are your clients?

We work with many athletes who compete in the different events that are organized on the island, such as the Ironman.

Also with people who live here or who come on vacation. All are welcome.

Why did you decide to open the center on the island of Lanzarote?

I left France because of a heartbreak, I took a flight and came to Lanzarote. I was 20 years old, it was my first plane. When I arrived, I immediately felt at home, it was magical.

What part of France are you from?

I come from the south of France, from the Landes area, just above the French Basque country, in fact, I have Basque family.

My land is a sea area, bathing in the sea is my daily wellness therapy, and it has few trees like Lanzarote, so it is normal that I feel at home (laughs), with the added value on the island, of the wonderful charm of its colors, its sun and its warmth, a wonderful place to accompany a healing process.

Your hands speak for themselves, but you have also learned several languages, haven't you?

What you say is very important, the language of healing is universal. When I give a massage I work in silence to focus on how and where to intervene. Luckily, in addition to French and Spanish, I also learned English and German. I love languages.
