The number of bars and restaurants in Lanzarote increases, with one for every 51 inhabitants

The number of bars and restaurants increased in Lanzarote in 2017 to reach 2,832, one for every 51 inhabitants, according to the Data Center of the Cabildo. A year earlier, the number of restaurant businesses on the island was 2,785, that is, 78 less. 

Specifically, last year Lanzarote had 1,851 bars or cafeterias and 1,012 restaurants for a population of 147,023 inhabitants, compared to 1,793 bars and 992 restaurants in 2016. All municipalities, with the exception of Tinajo, which remains with 58 establishments, have seen their restaurant offer increase

The municipality with the largest restaurant offer was Tías, with a total of 1,039 businesses, one for every 19 residents since, according to INE data, the resident population was 19,964 people.  Arrecife surpasses Teguise in the number of restaurant businesses, with 599 bars and restaurants, although in relation to the population it is lower. In the capital, there was one bar for every 100 inhabitants, while in Teguise there was one for every 41 registered residents, with 526 bars and restaurants for a population of 21,896 people. For its part, the other tourist municipality, Yaiza, had 381 restaurant businesses, one for every 42 residents. 

San Bartolomé, Haría and Tinajo are the municipalities with the fewest bars and restaurants. In the first there were 162 businesses, one for every 112 inhabitants; in the second 98, one for every 49 residents; and in the third 58, one for every 103 residents.
