Agreement signing between the Teguise City Council and the Chamber of Commerce

The Teguise City Council and the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa have signed a collaboration agreement to offer the services of the chamber in person to companies and self-employed workers on the eighth island.

The agreement between the parties will allow the opening of an office in the municipal facilities to provide information, advice and monitoring of emerging projects, as well as the growth and strengthening of already consolidated companies.

With this signature, the mayor of the Villa, Oswaldo Betancort, and the president of the Chamber of Commerce, José Torres Fuentes, are making a demand that the businesses of La Graciosa have been requesting a reality. The island, which is home to a population of 750 residents, has just over 50 business activities and has an annual influx of around 250,000 visitors, "which demonstrates an enormous potential still to be explored" according to the chamber.

The agreement establishes that the service will provide “business assistance and support through the Antenna project for business services in La Graciosa”. In addition to accompanying and consolidating existing activities, the aim is to organise activities specially designed to meet the needs that are detected, such as training or personalised consultancies. The face-to-face assistance will also serve to channel the demands of the business sector towards the different public administrations.

Promotion of renewables

The objectives also include the dissemination and promotion of renewable energies, of special interest to companies, specifically with information on subsidies and aid or bonuses. The information chapter will also address other available aid and support will be provided for processing.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by the head of the Commerce area of the Teguise City Council, Olivia Duque, and the director of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Isabel Quevedo.
