The Lanzarote Business Confederation has made available to owners of vacation homes a free advisory service for their "regularization", in accordance with the requirements of decree 113/2015 approved a few months ago. The CEL explains that it offers owners "all kinds of information and advice", including legal advice, so that they "carry out the procedures in accordance with these requirements and thus avoid remaining illegal."

The Confederation, which has invited owners of vacation homes or apartments in Lanzarote and La Graciosa to "urge their legalization", recalls that the Government of the Canary Islands, through decree 113/2015, "approved the regularization of the so-called vacation homes or apartments, establishing the requirements that the properties must meet and the documentation to be submitted to the competent administration."

"To help them understand all the requirements and process the required documentation," the Lanzarote Business Confederation offers its information point to entrepreneurs of the CEL, which is located at Calle Vargas, number 4, ground floor, in Arrecife.

Complaint forms and mandatory equipment, among the requirements

In the aforementioned government decree, vacation homes are defined as those that are "furnished and equipped in conditions of immediate use and meeting the requirements provided in this Regulation, are marketed or promoted in tourist offer channels, to be temporarily transferred in their entirety to third parties, on a regular basis, for vacation accommodation purposes and in exchange for a price."

The decree, recalls the CEL, establishes the "minimum mandatory conditions and equipment" that each home must have, in addition to having the mandatory complaint forms. "These homes must be located within the scope of the Canary Islands Autonomous Community, built in accordance with urban planning in the area and have the corresponding administrative authorizations," they point out. They must also have the "minimum conditions of habitability established in current legislation."
