The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Canary Islands has announced subsidies for investments in the transformation, marketing and/or development of agri-food products from livestock farming within the framework of the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAPSP) 2023-2027.

The total financial allocation for this line of aid reaches 1,250,000 euros for the entire programming period, distributed at a rate of 250,000 euros per year. These subsidies are co-financed by the European Union through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), by the Autonomous Community and by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

The most notable novelty of this new plan of aid to the primary and rural sector of the Canary Islands, which replaces the Rural Development Program (RDP), is that through a single call, the deadlines for submitting applications to benefit from these funds are determined for the four years, offering potential beneficiaries the opportunity to know in advance the start dates of the application periods, without having to wait for the annual publications of the calls, as was the case in the RDP.

For the 2024 selection procedure, interested parties have a period of fifteen days from the day following the publication of the extract of the call in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, while for the years 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028, these will be formalized during the month of October of the previous year, so that applications for 2025 will be processed in October 2024, and so on.

Applications to benefit from this call must be submitted through the single electronic headquarters of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, adjusted to the standardized model that will be accessible at said headquarters.

You can consult all the information through the PEPAC subsidies section of the website of the Ministry, in the section referring to 'Subsidies for investments in transformation, marketing and/or development of agri-food products, from livestock farming'.

People interested in accessing this line of aid must have the farm registered in the corresponding Registry of Farms before the Provisional Resolution, except for young people; not be subject to prohibitions of the General Law of Subsidies (LGS); maintain the subsidized livestock activity and property for at least five years; not have been sanctioned for sex/gender discrimination; make the investments after the non-start act; obtain the building permit before the subsidy acceptance period; not be in business crisis according to the Community Guidelines, and comply with the environmental and hygienic regulations of the call, among other conditions that can be consulted in the Order.
