The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, held this Monday, has approved the call for aid totaling one million euros aimed at associative entities in the agricultural sector of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, annuity 2024, within the framework of its Strategic Plan 2023-2025.

These subsidies, which will be granted under a non-competitive concurrence regime, are intended to strengthen agricultural associations, improve their operability, and finance key projects for the sector.

The president of the Corporation, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the importance of these aids to face the challenges of the agricultural sector in the 21st century. “With this investment of one million euros, we reaffirm our commitment to the farmers and ranchers of the island, supporting their competitiveness and strengthening cooperativism, which is key to guaranteeing the sustainability of the sector.”

The initiative includes two main lines of action. Line A, intended to cover the operating expenses of agricultural associations, while Line B supports projects of interest promoted by these entities. "We want the agricultural sector of Lanzarote and La Graciosa,” adds the president, “to continue being an engine of economic and social development, and these aids are essential to boost its evolution."

The bases of the call, approved on August 5 and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas, contemplate a subsidy of up to 75% of the operating expenses for the beneficiary entities under Line A, and up to 90% for the projects presented in Line B.

These aids are part of the Cabildo's efforts to promote food sovereignty, ecological production, and the adaptation of the agricultural sector to global challenges such as sustainability and competitiveness in international markets.
