Lanzarote airport receives 11% more travelers in October than in 2019

It is the one that experiences the greatest growth among the airports with the highest traffic in the Canary Islands

The César Manrique airport received a total of 680,525 passengers in October, which represents an increase of 11% compared to the same month of 2019, prior to the pandemic.

The Lanzarote airport is the one that experiences the greatest growth among the airports with the highest traffic in the Canary Islands. The one in Gran Canaria grew by 4.5% to reach 1,136,211 passengers and the one in Tenerife South by 4.6% to 965,129 travelers. 

Overall, the Canary Islands airports recorded 3,994,419 passengers last October, 6.1% more than in the same month of 2019.

Of the total number of passengers on commercial flights (3,968,613) in October, 1,662,785 correspond to national traffic, 6.3% more than in the same month of 2019, and 2,305,828 to international traffic, 6% more.

The airport of Fuerteventura accounted for 531,040 people (+9.5%); in Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna there were 520,576 (+2.9%); in La Palma, 127,063 travelers (+5.3%); in El Hierro 25,284 (+12.6%); and in La Gomera 8,591 passengers (+41.8%).

As for the freight traffic, 2,531 tons were transported in October, a figure that represents a recovery of 79.9% compared to the same month of 2019.

In relation to the number of operations, 36,185 movements were recorded last month, which is 6.1% more than the operations compared to the same month of 2019.

 

The annual accumulated, still below 2019

According to AENA, in the accumulated of the year, the figures prior to the pandemic have not yet been reached, but 94.6% has already been recovered of the total volume that existed in the first ten months of 2019.

In total, so far this year 34,992,351 passengers have arrived to the islands, of which 14,823,130 correspond to national flights, with a recovery of 97% compared to the same months of 2019; and 20,169,221 to international flights, 92.7% recovery compared to the same period of 2019.

The number of movements registered between January and October of 2022 was 331,241, with a recovery of 97.2% compared to the same period of the year 2019, and the freight traffic accounted for so far is 25,726 tons, which represents a recovery of 84.4% of the figures compared to the accumulated of the year 2019.
