Lanzarote airport received 745,000 passengers in July, the month with the lowest tourist growth this year

The Canary Islands airports as a whole registered 4.36 million travelers in July, 6.7% more, but El Hierro and La Gomera received fewer tourists than last year.

After having registered percentage increases of two digits in tourist arrivals in February and March compared to last year, growth is finally stabilizing at Lanzarote airport below 5% in the last quarter.

The lowest increase occurred in July, when César Manrique airport registered 744,894 travelers, which is equivalent to a growth of 1.3% compared to July last year.

For its part, the Canary Islands airports as a whole registered 4.36 million travelers, which is equivalent to 6.7% more than those who arrived in July last year.

Among them, two million travelers flew on national routes, 5.8% more than in July last year, and 2.3 million on international routes, 7.4% more.

 

El Hierro and La Gomera received fewer passengers than last year

Gran Canaria Airport registered the highest number of passengers in July, with 1.2 million tourists, which represents 6% more than in July last year.

It is followed by Tenerife South Airport, with just over one million passengers and an increase of 13.8% compared to 2023. The airport in the north of Tenerife, meanwhile, registered more than 600,000 passengers, 6% more.

Nearly 550,000 travelers arrived at Fuerteventura airport, 5.1% more than during July last year. A very similar percentage growth to that of La Palma (+5%), with arrivals to the beautiful island exceeding 130,000 travelers.

El Hierro and La Gomera received fewer passengers in July than last year. 29,000 people landed on the meridian island, 6.4% less than last year, while in La Gomera the fall was minimal, 0.4% to 11,700 tourists.

So far this year, the Canary Islands airports have exceeded 30 million travelers, 9.5% more than in the same period of 2023.
