The Government of the Canary Islands announced this Thursday the call for a subsidy that is already open with an item of 1,800,000 euros, "almost 30% more than last year", destined for the development and production of feature films, series and short films.
According to a statement by the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Autonomous Executive, Juan Márquez, this measure will make it possible to realize the aspiration of this area to increase the budget allocated to the production of new audiovisual works, which is expected to reinforce the good work being done by Canarian professionals.
"An investment that joins the almost four million euros allocated since 2019, and that little by little are reaching theaters and festivals, some projects with outstanding international recognition", Márquez added.
Of the total reserved for this year, 520,000 euros will be allocated to short films and development projects, and 1,280,000 euros to the production of feature films and series, with independent calls.
The deadline for the first will be open until July 19 and the second until July 21. The bases are available on the website of the Government of the Canary Islands and also on the portal of the Canary Institute of Cultural Development (ICDC), a collaborating entity in this procedure.
