After a great push in the first months of the year, the growth in the number of companies in Lanzarote slowed down in the central months of the year. September welcomes again positive net figures for the creation of companies.

Lanzarote added 20 more companies that month compared to the previous month, bringing the island's total to 4,956 businesses.

Teguise and San Bartolomé were the municipalities that contributed the most to the positive balance in the creation of companies in September with 12 and 10 newly created companies respectively. Arrecife also recorded three more companies.

For its part, Tías and Haría lost three and two companies respectively, while Tinajo and Yaiza recorded one less business each

Despite this slight growth, the island fails to overcome the barrier of 5,000 companies, a goal that was reached for the first time in 2017 and that the pandemic wiped out.

New companies in 2022

The creation of companies in Lanzarote had a great boost in the first months of the year when 312 new companies were created between January and April.

May and June were flat months and growth returned in July, when the island added 32 companies, although this figure was offset by a similar drop in August

September seems to have changed the trend, also in the rest of the archipelago. With the exception of Fuerteventura and La Gomera, the rest of the Canary Islands also experienced growth, so that the total number of companies in the archipelago exceeded 60,200 businesses
