The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands reports that the seven people who have tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus in the Canary Islands remain in good health and, complying with the protocol, are hospitalized and isolated.
The latest case occurred this Monday, March 2. This is one of the guests of the hotel in the South of Tenerife, who is already hospitalized and isolated. This case corresponds to a person from the United Kingdom who was and remains asymptomatic. The positive result occurred after the periodic tests carried out inside the hotel, which, let us remember, has been under sanitary control measures since last Monday, February 24.
Regarding the group of Italian citizens where the first positive case occurred on February 24, five of them are hospitalized and isolated after testing positive and are in good health. The other five people in this same group are asymptomatic and isolated in their hotel rooms.
The woman who is also isolated in La Gomera continues her positive evolution and remains admitted to the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Hospital in La Gomera.
Regarding PCR tests for coronavirus detection, the Ministry of Health has carried out almost 300 so far.
The hotel's departure plan continues and as of 7:00 PM this Tuesday, 215 people have already left. Let us remember that in the hotel there are citizens of 25 different nationalities and that the departure is subject to three conditions: being asymptomatic, testing negative for coronavirus 24 hours before leaving, and that the country of origin has established the return mechanism and guarantees the continuity of their monitoring when they arrive in their countries.
Information lines
The Ministry of Health maintains a free telephone line activated (900 112 061), from which a nursing team, under the coordination of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), will attend to requests for information from citizens about prevention measures, possibilities of contagion and false concepts related to the virus.
In addition, it is recalled the importance of people who consider that they may have symptoms related to the coronavirus (cough, sore throat, fever and feeling short of breath) and who have returned in the last 14 days from any of the risk areas or been in contact with someone who comes from those points, to contact 1-1-2, avoiding going directly to Primary Care centers or Hospital Emergencies. Through this channel, the extraction of samples will be managed at home, although the population is also asked to use this resource rationally and only when the above conditions are met.
