The Governing Council of the Canary Islands has approved this Wednesday the restriction of entries and exits on the island of Tenerife, except as established in art. 6 of the decree of the state of alarm of October 25, and Christmas lunches and dinners are reduced to six people, with a maximum of two cohabiting units.

This was announced by the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, after a meeting of the extraordinary Governing Council in which a set of "tough" measures were approved that will come into force next Friday at 24:00 hours on the island of Tenerife and will be in force for the next fifteen days.

Among these measures are the recommendation to avoid travel between the municipalities of the island; the curfew is brought forward to 10:00 p.m., and all restaurant activity is suspended inside the premises, except to order take-out food, and the capacity of the terraces is reduced to 50% and only those who live together can sit.

As for shopping centers, the capacity is reduced to 33% of its capacity and, in addition, per floor. The capacity of parking lots is also reduced to 50%. Likewise, all sports activity that is carried out in indoor spaces is suspended and outdoors it can only be carried out individually.

Also, any mass event is suspended, that is, street markets, fairs or festivals. The departure of people residing in senior centers and also visits from family members are also suspended, except in very serious cases, and visits to hospitals, also except in very serious cases, pregnant women and minors.

On the other hand, the capacity of regular public transport for urban and metropolitan travelers is reduced by 50%, and it is also established for the island of Tenerife that on December 24, 25 and 31 and January 1, Christmas lunches and dinners are reduced to six people and a maximum of two cohabiting units, that is, those who live in that house and one more cohabiting unit.
